ZACK SNYDER
Director/Writer/Producer
Filmmaker Zack Snyder quickly rose to become one of Hollywood’s premiere feature film directors after solidifying himself as one of the most sought after directors in the commercial and music video worlds. Snyder is currently in production on “Watchmen” for Warner Bros. The film is set for a March 2009 release. “Watchmen” is based on the graphic novel of the same name, which TIME placed in their “100 Greatest English Language Novels from 1923”.
Zack Snyder’s second movie, “300,” opened in March 2007, and grossed over $70 million its opening weekend, taking the all-time record for any opening in March. “300” has also been well received by critics and industry professionals, who laud its captivating visuals and clever retelling.
Snyder is directing “Sucker Punch,” which tells the story of a girl confined to a mental institution where she has five days to escape before being lobotomized. Snyder is also producing “Army of the Dead,” a zombie action-thriller following a father’s mission to save his daughter from imminent death in a zombie infested world.
Snyder is also applauded for his incredibly successful release first feature “Dawn of the Dead,” an inspired retelling of the famed 1978 cult classic by George Romero. Snyder was nominated for the Camera d’Or prize at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival for this directorial endeavor. Snyder’s feature film success follows years of directing award winning commercials and music videos. Snyder’s commercial work has garnered numerous awards including two Clios, and a Gold Lion award at Cannes for his Jeep “Frisbee” spot.
