PAOLA ANTONELLI
Design Curator, The Museum of Modert Art
Paola Antonelli joined The Museum of Modern Art in 1994 and is a Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design. Her first exhibition for MoMA, Mutant Materials in Contemporary Design (1995), was followed by several others, covering all facets of architecture and design in the contemporary world. Her most recent exhibition, Design and the Elastic Mind (2/24-5/12/2008) was devoted to the relationship between design and science, to the changes in scale and pace that we experience in our everyday life, and to design’s fundamental role in helping us cope with them. The exhibition also featured 5D fellow founders Frankurt/Lynn/McDowell’s outstanding New City demo installation. Her ultimate goal is to make design the most loved, understood, and celebrated subject of the XXI century. She currently working, among other things, on a book about foods from all over the world as examples of outstanding design, on an exhibition about the design of scents, and on trying to get a Boeing 747 into the collection of The Museum of Modern Art.
